Asbestos Removal around Curtin
A property built before 1990 is likely to contain asbestos-containing material somewhere in the home. The list holds properties that contain, or have contained, loose-fill insulation, most since demolished, so the count is a reason to check the Register before any work, not a statement about any one Curtin home.
Have any wall or ceiling material checked by a licensed assessor before it is disturbed. If you are renovating, WorkSafe ACT says the business doing the work is responsible for having asbestos identified and removed first, not the homeowner.
Permits and Access Canberra rules
Whether a job at a Canberra property needs building approval is for Access Canberra and the certifier to say. An application for approval for a class 1, 2, 3 or 4 building erected before 1985 must include an asbestos removal control plan, and at a loose-fill (Mr Fluffy) affected property building work is limited to essential work or demolition.
